MATILDA BLISS STUDIO

Matilda Bliss Studio is a contemporary jewelry brand based in Northern California. Matilda Bliss studied at Penland School of Craft, with artists Janna Gregonis and Lola Brooks. She graduated with a B.S. in Fashion Merchandising + Design with a concentration in textile design from Meredith College. While launching her own jewelry line, Matilda worked as a production jeweler for various jewelry artists in North Carolina. In addition to her jewelry practice, Matilda teaches classes in San Francisco and Oakland, CA.

“I combine hand fabrication and lost wax cast techniques, capturing depth and texture to create a tactile experience for the wearer. Jewelry forms are inspired by daily rituals within my life, designing intuitively from a place of raw and unfiltered emotion. I forge all the mica I use directly from the earth and cast most pieces using recycled sterling silver, as this is an important aspect to my practice. Both light and color are key focal points within the gemstones and minerals used, which I enhance through fabricating minimal sterling frames and lost wax cast settings.”
