At abroad, each piece of jewelry reflects a journey of self-discovery, celebrating the power of individuality. The brand’s story began with its founder, Riri Kamata, moving from Tokyo to New York at the age of 14. Immersed in the challenges of living abroad and adapting to a city rich in diverse cultures, Riri discovered the profound value of embracing individuality—not just strengths but also the flaws and uncertainties that shape us.

After graduating from Parsons School of Design as a designer, Riri launched abroad to honor her transformative journey. Rejecting CAD-generated designs, she crafts each piece by hand, ensuring no two are alike, embodying the essence of individuality.

Riri’s design process is guided by experimentation and intuition. In her New York studio, she transforms unexpected moments into inspiration. One such moment came when she accidentally broke a ring she had made. Rather than discarding the fragments, she transformed them into a necklace. For Riri, setbacks are not flaws to be hidden but opportunities for growth.

Through abroad, Riri seeks to inspire others to embrace and honor their authentic selves. Each piece of abroad jewelry embodies resilience, creativity, and self-acceptance—values deeply rooted in Riri Kamata’s personal journey.
