Metal Petal Jewelry is a Chicago-based brand founded by artist and metalsmith Naomi Johnson. Handcrafted in small batches, Naomi’s pieces explore themes of identity, belonging, and joy. Since its founding in 2023, Metal Petal Jewelry has served as a space for artistic and personal exploration, merging fine craft with cultural storytelling.
Naomi’s work has been exhibited nationally and spans both wearable jewelry and sculptural objects. Drawing inspiration from West African design traditions, Naomi integrates and reinterprets these influences to form a distinct visual language that reflects their experience within the diaspora.

Through symbols of ancestry, kinship, and transformation, Naomi reimagines adornment as a medium of connection and possibility. Black and queer futurity sit at the core of their practice—an ever-evolving dialogue between the ancestral and the contemporary, where each piece becomes an act of reclamation and a vision of collective liberation.
