DISCOVER Feature
DISCOVER is a curated online feature on the NYC Jewelry Week website, offering jewelers and jewelry brands the opportunity to gain international visibility by showcasing their work to a global audience. DISCOVER runs twice per year and highlights a diverse selection of designers chosen by a curator.
Participation in DISCOVER is a standalone digital opportunity and does not include or require participation in the in-person NYC Jewelry Week festival.

Meet the curator
Melanie Grant is a writer and curator having worked as a journalist for over 25 years at The Times, The FT, The Independent, The Guardian, The BBC and The Economist where she specialised in jewellery, watches and luxury for 16 years. She won The Media Excellence category of The Gem Awards voted for by the Jewelers of America in March 2021, and The British Society of Magazine Editors gave her awards in July 2021 and in March 2022. She wrote her first book Coveted on the art and economics of high jewelry published by Phaidon in 2020, then co-authored Winged Beauty on the pioneering work of Wallace Chan in 2021 and 100 Years of Creativity in 2023. In 2025, she commissioned and co-authored The Jewelry Book and co-authored Brilliance: Jewelry, Art and Fashion, as well as writing Journey of a Jeweler on the life and travels of Silvia Furmanovich for Rizzoli. During the summer that year, she taught a summer school at Harvard University on metals and minerals alongside Dr Raquel Alonso Perez, and she continues to sit on advisory boards of The Black in Jewelry Coalition, NYC Jewelry Week, and Responsible Steel.

Selection Criteria
Applications are reviewed by our curator, who evaluates submissions based on originality, craftsmanship, and creative vision, with particular attention to innovation and storytelling. Each application is carefully considered to ensure a fair and transparent selection process. We welcome jewelers whose work reflects a broad range of styles, including fashion, contemporary, art, and fine jewelry. Because DISCOVER is a photo-forward platform, high-quality images are especially important. Selection is based on the overall applicant pool and is subjective in relation to the work of other applicants.
Eligibility
There are no restrictions on who can apply. We welcome applications from around the world, from emerging to established artists. Important reminder: If your work is chosen and featured on the DISCOVER page, you cannot reapply or be selected for a second feature. This policy helps us ensure that DISCOVER features new and diverse voices each season, giving as many designers as possible the opportunity to participate.
