MAR IVE
Mar Ive (Marilyn Polanco) is a industrial designer, visual artist, and contemporary jewelry artist based in Guatemala.
She explore a conceptual and dramatic sense born from the experimentation with materials, evoking sensory experiences, questioning, or curiosity regarding the use of and relationship with the body.
Based on the structure and impulses of geometry, which are reflected by creating spaces and generating discreet tensions dialoguing with devices found in architecture and nature, she imagine and construct wearable objects and sculptures for the body: pieces that connect, invade, expand, compress, or inhabit physicality, transforming the way it is perceived and experienced.
Her pieces of jewelry combined traditional metalsmithing techniques with the art in mixed metals, designed with a strong concept and idea of each piece as a little piece of art. This vision has let she to exhibit her work at contemporary jewelry exhibitions and design fairs in Europe, North America and Latin America, such as: Artistar Jewel/Milano, Autor/Bucarest, American design exhibition/Amsterdam, Brazil Jewelry Week/Sao Paulo, NY Now/New York.
