Mavens Jewelry
I grew up in Georgia collecting rocks and shells and feathers and all sorts of other organic ephemera. I consider myself a scavenger who has always loved the tiniest things and the most insignificant details. It's all treasure, if only we look closely enough.
Mavens Jewelry is how I process and share this innate wonder at our surroundings through hand-crafted one-of-a-kind pieces, many of which have been selected for the Heidi Lowe Gallery's 'Earrings Galore' show at NYCJW.
Training in lost-wax casting in northern Italy, apprenticing to a Master Goldsmith in New York City, managing a fine jewelry repair shop while mastering the art of stone-setting in New Orleans, and being educated in gemology in California - this breadth of experience has led me to work with all kinds of materials, the 'high' and the 'low', and they are equal in my view, from quartz to diamonds, and from silver fabrication to classical goldsmithing techniques.
The work runs the gamut of my personality, and of the character of the places I've lived and worked.
