Zhipeng Wang
Zhipeng Wang is a Chinese contemporary jewellery artist working between China and Germany. His practice is grounded in China’s rich material cultural heritage and shaped by his unique cross-cultural perspective. Using materials with strong cultural significance, such as tea and jade—Zhipeng explores themes of identity, memory, and materiality.
He received his Bachelor of Arts degree in Jewellery Art and Design from China Academy of Art in 2019. Seeking further development, he enrolled in the renowned Jewellery Class at Academy of Fine Arts Munich in 2020, studying under Professor Karen Pontoppidan. He completed his studies in 2024, obtaining a Freie Kunst Diplom (equivalent to a Master of Fine Arts).
Zhipeng’s work has been exhibited internationally in countries including Argentina, Belgium, China, Finland, Germany, Italy, the Netherlands, Poland, Romania, Spain, the United Kingdom, and the United States—most notably at the prestigious “Schmuck” 2024 in Munich, Germany.
He has received several international awards, such as the Grand Prize of the BKV Prize 2024 in Munich, the First Prize at the 2024 Giancarlo Montebello Award in Milan, the Winner of the 2021 Preziosa Young Competition in Florence, and a Special Award at the 30th Legnica International Jewellery Competition “Touch” in Poland, among others. His works are held in the permanent collections of public institutions and private collectors, including the Auckland Museum in New Zealand, the Deutsches Goldschmiedehaus Hanau in Germany, Le Arti Orafe Jewelry School in Italy, and China Academy of Art Museum.
