Little Nothing – Paula Castro

Little Nothing – Paula Castro

Porto (Portugal) is my city: where I was born and where I like to live. Mountains are something from my deep soul and where I like to feel myself.

I worked with and to People in some companies for twenty-seven years after studying psychology.

Art, aesthetic, sensitivity to what is around me, always were present feeding my spirit.

I studied jewelry two years (2012/13) and a passion was born. Since then, I have been attending workshops and courses. Some of them, with Lucy Saarnel, Benedick Fisher, Jorge Manila, Eija Mustonen, David Clarke, Manuel Vilhena and Adi Toch.

My work is organic, simple, emotional, irregular. I have been developing projects related to freedom, identity, lightness, and resilience.

I have been present at several international business fairs (Maison & Objet; Inhorgenta; Shoppe Object; Blick Fang – Wien) and in some exhibitions (in Portugal, Argentina, Brazil, Italy, Switzerland, The Nederland, UK, Germany and Spain).

Simplicity, transparency, and honesty: are for me, main aspects in our life and when we live and communicate to others.

Nature shows us these features all the time, with its beauty, irregularity, diversity as well with its delicacy, fragility and ephemerality.

Many humans forget that we belong to Nature. Humans are not a "separate thing". If we, humans, do not care and preserve Nature, Earth, we all will suffer the consequences of not respecting and of killing Nature.

These jewelry pieces are just raw Nature.

I do feel important to preserve and to “carry” a piece of raw nature as it is (after being casted directly to silver and gold-plated – mostly re-used - to stress the preciousness of raw nature).
